Another week has passed, time to look back.

Hello everyone, how are you this Saturday afternoon?

This week was a bit chaotic. Last week I decided to experiment with planning all the posts for the week, and it went well. This week I decided to do the complete opposite and see how chaotic it could become. Well, let me just say, if you end up getting sick, you start loving the idea of having a plan laid out

But that is not why this post comes out, this is the reflection post where we look back at the previous week and decide what works and what doesn’t.

From now on I will change the format a bit. I will make it START and STOP and would love to get your feedback also via social media.

So here it goes:

START

  • Create exclusive slide decks to share with all of you. Posts are fun to write, but doing some PPT’s/PDF’s are even more fun.
  • More Twitter and Instagram. Again, another try on these with a new strategy.

STOP

  • 3-Point-Saturday. I love writing this quick mail that I sent to some of you but for now, I will give it a stop.
  • Coming up with post ideas on the stop, I will do like last week and plan for the week during the weekend. A lot of time is saved this way ( read my post on 7 lean wastes).

I hope to see you here for more exciting posts and don’t feel shy about dropping your feedback to me@ruitiago.blog.

Cheers,

A couple of “learnings” from this past week

Hey there everyone, how are you?

This past week was an intense one at work, but also a lot of fun. I had a couple of agile friends visiting from Poland, a workshop to facilitate for more than 50 people. Loads of fun, loads of work, happy that it is done πŸ˜„

Yellow Plush Toy

So without further ado, where are a couple of things that helped me this past week.

πŸ‘ Planning my posts in advance. I knew this week was going to be chaotic in the workplace, and the only way for me to keep my daily posting routine was to plan it in advance. So, last Sunday I prepared this theme of lean waste and scheduled all the posts so that I would not miss a day.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ On the last 3-point Saturday I talked about Notion, and how the tool helped me become more productive and organized on my blogging. It is really a time saver, and also helps me keep track of the upcoming Podcast. Imagine Trello meets todoist. If you haven’t already, check out Notion.

Also, join the 3-point Saturday newsletter so that you don’t miss these exclusive gems πŸ˜€, the next one will be out today. JOIN HERE.

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Youtube’s free music library. Working on getting the podcast out, one of the things I have been working on is the Intro. I don’t want to have to worry about copyright holders or any other legal problems. A quick internet search and I found out that Youtube has a lot of free music, some require attribution, others don’t. Definitely a lifesaver.

And that is pretty much it. Hope you also had an amazing week, and see you again in the next post.

This is what I’ve learned this week

Hello everyone, one more week gone and another about to start.
So far a good start of the weekend. I am writing this post with a sunny day, something that is not very common in the Netherlands at this time of the year.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Finally the project I have been talking about is starting to pull together. I can share now that this will be a podcast where I aim to interview leader, thinkers and workers of the technology world. The main goal is to pick their brain and find out what advises that can have to share with this community. First episode is already recorded and should be coming out soon πŸ˜ƒ

πŸ‘ This week I also found out how to write better headlines, as you can see by today’s headline compared with other Saturday’s πŸ˜„. After some reading I realized how important a good headline is. The headline is what will make you, the reader, captivated into opening the page and reading more about it. Without a proper headline I will fail on my mission to reach you and share my thoughts.

πŸ›‘ For now it is stopped. Instagram is a nice addition but my focus is on producing a good blog and sharing a good message with all of you. If you have any thoughts about it, I would love to hear more. You know how to find me, if not, drop me a message on me@ruitiago.blog

Good afternoon boys and girls, ladies and gents. Hope you had a wonderful week.
Here is a beautiful image just to start this post.

πŸ‘ The new project I mentioned last week is taking form, there is a high change next week I will publish it πŸ˜€

πŸ‘ Medium is picking up. By starting to put proper tags on the articles they started getting more views. Most of the views still come outside of Medium but it’s another way to share the message.

πŸ‘ Another theme week. This week the focus was on backlogs. I am more and more inclined to stick to a full theme for the week. It’s easy to break down and share with all of you without writing a super big post. This way you can choose what to read, if the title is what you are looking for in that theme or not.

What do you think?

Oh hey there. How are you? How was your week?

I will start with a rant…

πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž Facebook 😁 It’s incredible how zero Fs they give. Not only do they keep the blog blocked on their platform without any justification, but they also keep on pushing their advertising service for me to buy. Are you serious?

They have an option for us, humans, to report an error, but let me be honest, I have been doing that every day for the past 2 months. No response, no change. It’s a placebo form that goes nowhere.

Anyway, I’m just venting out. πŸ˜‰ It is in these situations that we truly see that the only thing that matters for a company like Facebook is to sell ads. Nothing else.

πŸ‘ I have a new project on the way. More to come in the upcoming weeks.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Radical Transparency. I am in love with this concept. Learned it from Ray Dalio of Bridgewater Associates. His principles are awesome and I really recommend everyone to have a look at them.

πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ Medium. I have just tried importing the posts to medium directly from the blog, the problem is that the cover image and the tags are not imported correctly. I need to work a bit on that and make sure I post the right tags.

This is a quick summary of how my week was. How was yours?

Saturday Reflections

Hello everyone, welcome to the weekend, it’s time to look back at the week and reflect on what we did.

No need to get startled, whatever is done is done. The only thing we can do is look back and inspect our experiments, gather the knowledge, and adapt for the week to come.

πŸ‘ The newsletter 3-point Saturday is really going good. I love writing these 3 little nuggets that I’ve found during the week. It also forces me to go and find cool stuff. If you haven’t already, join here, I will try to send it after lunch, so you can still get this week’s edition πŸ˜€

πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž Facebook again. It is amazing how bad they are at this. For a network that says they are in the business of bringing people together, it really looks like it’s the other way around. So long story short, the blog got blocked. They have now unblocked the blog, but the blog pages that contain 2019 (all of them) are still blocked. So I can share ruitiago.blog but not ruitiago.blog/2019

πŸ‘ Going with the theme for the week. For the last 3 weeks, you may have noticed that the main focus was Scrum. It was super fun to rant about it, and as an S.M. myself I love to talk about the framework and its misconceptions.

πŸ‘Ž Instagram. Still letting Instagram on the low side. Maybe it’s my disappointment against Facebook, maybe just lazy. This is for sure something I have to work on.

πŸ˜‘ Start by sharing all posts in Medium as well. So far no hits on it. Don’t know if it’s due to the subjects or due to the lack of pictures. Still a work in progress to figure out how this will go for the future.

How was your week? Any highlights or things that if you look back you want to improve this coming week?

And as always, keep learning, keep growing and have an awesome day.

Another full week is coming to an end, hope it has been as much fun for you as it has been for me.

Last week I talked about scrum roles and it was super fun to touch upon some misconceptions. What is expected from everyone, not that anyone else cannot do it, but more on an accountability level.

πŸ‘ This week the full focus was on the scrum events, SCRUM EVENTS, not CEREMONIES, lol, there are no scrum ceremonies. We are not graduating at the end of each sprint. There is no coronation. I know it’s just a word, but it matters. Just look at the definitions.

CEREMONY: the ritual observances and procedures required or performed at grand and formal occasions.
EVENT: a planned public or social occasion.

Anyway, I digress. It was really fun to summarize them in a single post. Maybe next week I will rant more about these 2 words. πŸ˜†

πŸ‘ Facebook looks to have stopped unblocking the blog.
After more than a month it looks like they finally stopped censoring us. As expected, no information, no justification, no nothing. As someone from IT, for me, it is super interesting to see the power these companies have on censoring ideas.

πŸ‘Ž I neglected my Instagram. I need to be more consistent on that side. This is an awesome way to share quick bits with all of you that are interested without having to go thru many hoops.

What about your week? How was it? Hope you had fun.
Keep learning, keep growing and have an awesome day.
